Why stay here
Shirakawa-go, Takayama and the old castle town of Gujo Hachiman are each worth a full day, but they are spread out. Tencho no Bettei Hirugano sits in the highlands roughly between them, so you can unpack once, visit a different place each day, and come back every evening to your own house with a wood stove, a full kitchen and a deck for BBQ.
The price is for the whole house, not per person, so it works well for families and friends travelling together (up to 6).

A sample 3-night plan
Day 1: Drive from Nagoya or Kanazawa (about 2 hours). Check in from 15:00, light the wood stove and cook dinner in the kitchen.
Day 2: Shirakawa-go in the morning (about 40 minutes). Back for a BBQ on the deck and the night sky.
Day 3: Takayama old town (about 50 minutes), stopping at Hida Shokawa no Sato on the way back.
Day 4: Check out by 10:00 and visit Gujo Hachiman (about 45 minutes) on your way to Nagoya.
In winter, seven ski areas are within about 30 minutes, so you can add skiing to the same trip. Winter tyres are required.
